Perfection:
Fermentation
is the process by which bacterial and fungal strains are mass produced
is perfected at Sri Biotech. Both solid and submerged state fermentations
are used in production of various microbial agents. Sri Biotech is equipped
with ultra-modern fermentors and associated infrastructure. A 4000sft
clean area is totally dedicated for this purpose. Production centre has
four individual labs one each for virus and bacteria and two for fungal
work fitted with clean benches, shakers and environ conditioners
Sri Biotech's
mass production technology and low cost prices, with in short time
made an effective dent on target markets lead to expansion of production
systems and continuing with research. Sri Biotech also ventured into
production of various herbal based repellents, anti-feedent, seaweed
based liquid fertilisers and bio-organic fertilisers.
Approach
Sri Biotech's
approach is crop Vs problem Vs solution basis and addressed several
critical problems which are difficult to overcome by chemical means
like, Rhizome rot in Turmeric and Ginger, Root rot in Citrus, Wilts
in Cotton, Chickpea, Pigeon pea, Blast and Blight in Paddy and Helicoverpa
in Cotton and Chickpea etc.,Sri Biotech has established strong linkages
with R&D institutions and extension service providers . Sri Biotech
is in the forefront of popularising biological concept in Agriculture
in Andhra Pradesh state.
Focus:
Sri Biotech
is focussed on
1.Bio-intensive
Integrated Pest, Disease and Nutrient Management (BIPDNM) which is
also a motto of the organisation
2.
Biological solid waste management
3.
Bioremediation
4.
Clonal propagation of endangered species
5.
Promotion of organic farming.
6.
Human resource development in agricultural biotechnology
Aqua and veterinary Division
Development
of feed pro-biotics for prawn, fish, poultry and dairy animals for effective
feed conversion ratio and elimination of pathogens from the gut environment.
Development of microbial techniques for bioremediation with special reference
to pond pollution, sludge degradation and poisonous gas elimination.
Awards:
AIMA AWARD TO SRI BIOTECH

(AIMA – Dr. JS Juneja Award for Creativity and Innovation for Small Enterprises)
Sri Biotech, one of the earliest (1994) agri-biotech company established at Hyderabad bagged prestigious All India Management Association (AIMA)- Dr. JS Juneja Award for Creativity and Innovation for Small Enterprises. The achievements of the company are related to development of creative and innovative biotechnological products for Integrated Pest and Disease Management in Agriculture. The company has developed PGPR (Plant Growth Promoting Rhizobacteria) based products for induction of growth and systemic resistance (ISR) in plants against diseases. Apart from this the company has also developed fungal-based products for pest control (bio-control) which will go hand to hand with Integrated Crop Management. These products are eco-friendly in nature and cost effective to the farmers.
This award is presented to Dr.K.R.K. Reddy, CEO of Sri Biotech, by His Excellency Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, President of India on 21st February 2006, at Vigyan Bhavan, New Delhi, during AIMA Golden Jubilee Foundation Day.

BEST NEW PRODUCT INNOVATION AWARD (SMALL SCALE INDUSTRY)
Sri
Biotech (formerly Vermigreen Biofertilisers), Hyderabad was established
in the year 1994 to develop and introduce environmentally safe and green
technologies in agriculture for nutrient, disease and pest management.
Sri Biotech developed two new products
based on PGPR's (Plant Growth Promoting Rhizo bacteria) - a novel class
of microorganisms which helps the plants to develop resistance towards
diseases by inducing systemic resistance (ISR). This product is first
of its kind among biological inputs used across the country. The other
product is a combination (consortium) of various useful organisms, which
can control soil borne pests and diseases, and protects the plant root
system. These two products help to improve inbuilt resistance in the plant
and protect it externally from diseases and pests. Application of biological
organisms will automatically reduce the usage of agrochemicals, which
are otherwise costly to the farmers and cause ecological imbalance. This
novel concept will go a long way in Indian agriculture and become a trendsetter
in plant protection.
In 2002 bagged 'Best Biotechnology Effort'
Award from All India Manufactures Organization, A.P.Chapter.
For innovating PGPR (Plant Growth Promoting Rhizobacteria), a new biological
product to combat pests and diseases as alternative to chemicals, the
'Best New Product Innovation Award (Small Scale Industry)' for the year
2002-2003 has been awarded to Sri Biotech, Hyderabad.
Sri
Biotech was recently awarded with Bharat Ratna Dr. M. Visvesvarayya "Best
Biotechnology Industrial award" instituted by All India Manufacturers'
Organization, AP State Board for the year 2002.And "Best New Product
Innovation award" for the year 2003 from Federation of Andhra Pradesh
Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FAPCCI)
