Research and Development Centre

Sri Biotech has its own R&D centre, apart from having a production, formulation units and a full-fledged research farm. Sri Biotech established its own R&D in 1996 and started working on various biological control agents, and developed different products based on various biological systems and successful in introducing to the farming community in the state. At the current stage of development the organisation has demonstrated its ability to successfully develop products and processes which can be part of Integrated Crop Management. Sri Biotech tied-up with various research institutions listed below

  • Central Salt and Marine Chemicals Research Institute ( CSMCRI), Bhavnagar a research organisation of Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR,Govt.of India) provided technical know how for the large scale production of Seaweed Liquid Fertiliser(SLF)
  • Indian Institute of Spices Research (IISR) of Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR, Govt of Inida) provided virulent Trichoderma harzianum strain and mass production technology
  • Technical Tie-up with Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU) for mass production of Pseudomonas fluorescens and Trichoderma viride
  • This a part most of the virulent microbial strains were obtained from Project Directorate of Biological Control (PDBC).
  • Our R&D centre also isolated and selected certain strains from different agro-climatic zones and soil specific strains.

This state of the art R&D centre of Sri Biotech is equipped with all necessary facilities for research in Entomology, Microbial biotechnology, Plant pathology and Micropropagation. A green house and farm supports in - house trials.

Sri Biotech's in house R&D is first of its kind in the state developed different products based on biological systems for disease and pest management.

Current Work

  1. R&D work is under progress to identify certain microorganisms involved in bio-remediation with special reference to aquaculture.
  2. Trials on batch production of these organisms and their effect on pond ecosystem to control poisonous gasses and organic sludge are in under way.
  3. The future R&D will be focussed on disease and pest management in agricultural, aqua and veterinary areas.

Recognition:

Sri Biotech's Biotechnology centre has become knowledge and training centre for NGO's, and biotechnology students of many Universities. Sri Biotech is recognized by Jawaharlal Nehru Technical University, Kakatiya University, Bharatidasan University, Barkatullah University, Bangalore University to undertake project works for their M.Sc Biotechnology students. So far 22 students completed their project work in our R&D centre in various aspects of biofertilisers, biopesticides, biological control agents and bioremediation.
